Weapon effects use an interchangeable palette of 6 colors, which are loaded into colors 2-7 of the corresponding sprite palette (offset 0x124 or 0x1A4 in CGRAM depending on the current map). The Weapon Color Palette Table defines a set of 8 such palettes and additional 8 currently unused entries. The Weapon Color Assignment Table assigns every weapon a color index.
